In addition to in-house studio events, bahdeebahdu has hosted arts organizations, the design trade, community groups, commercial vendors and private individuals as well. Always a hub for Philadelphia’s creative community, our unique 4,000 square foot space is likewise available to rent for special events.

Luminous Encounters
R. Lane Clark

Artist's Statement
In 25 years of artistic practice, I have been combining painting, photography and filmmaking in the US, Switzerland and Ghana, exhibiting my work in all of these places, sometimes in collaboration with dance and performance. In this photo series, "Luminous Encounters" I project elemental images from nature, color, or hand drawn textures onto the body while the model moves naturally in reaction to the images and to music. The encounter between the model, the projections and myself as the photographer becomes a journey into the unknown, an exploration of materials, images and meanings. By placing the figure in a magical space of projected light, I seek to evoke the spirit realm and human archetypes. The resulting images speak of the beauty, vulnerability, resilience and frailty that all people share.
